Revlon ColorStay foundation and Highlighting matte palette

Hey guys!

As from the title you can tell, today I am going to talk about me trying Revlon face products for the first time. I know, where have I been and why I have never thought of getting any of this such a popular brand products before? It is an American brand and I have to say, many products doesn't even reach us here in UK. Such a shame, isn't it?

Few years ago, a girl I used to work with mentioned Revlon ColorStay foundation saying how good it was, but I was not convinced and totally forgot about it. Since I started blogging, I was seeing Revlon products all over other blogs and pretty much all reviews was glowing. Then I thought 'Ok, Indre, enough of L'oreal, step out of your comfort zone!' Yup, I am loyal L'oreal fan, my absolute favorite product was L'oreal Infallible Matte 24hr foundation (read review here), until I've tried Revlon...

At the moment, I cannot decide which one of these two I prefer more, but my hands has been reaching for ColorStay ever since I've got it. As for the drugstore foundation it is absolutely fantastic. I was so pleasantly surprised when I discovered they had the same foundation for different skin types. How freakin' awesome is that! I picked mine for combination/oily skin and it works great with my skin. The foundation stays all day, it doesn't crease, it does not accentuate my pores or fine lines and it gives beautiful healthy skin glow.
It is quite thick, but does not feel heavy at all and it blends like a dream! I have tried applying it with wet RT sponge and brush, but I prefer brush because you don't need as much product as applying with a sponge. I love how my skin looks after application, it's kind of matte with a very natural glow finish. The coverage is medium, but definitely buildable.  My shade is 220 Natural Beige. I could of gone for a shade lighter, but it still looks great and not too dark. The only down side is the packaging - foundation comes in the glass bottle with plastic lid and no pump. This is a huge disappointment for me, as it means I will be loosing a lot of product when it gets to the end.

Next, I picked this highlighting matte palette. First I don't think it is a highlighting palette at all! It's more of a bronzer with one line of highlighter shade added next to it. But either way this product is brilliant. The pigmentation of this is insane! It says sweep across the palette and apply to areas of the face which catch the light. No girl, you DO NOT want to sweep across the palette! Trust me, otherwise you will look like dirty mess! You literally need one gentle dab and you get a huge amount of product on your brush. It is warm toned palette and it gives very beautiful summery, tanned look. It stays on me all day if I am not touching my face. I use it to contour and it gives super natural results. The highlighter comes in white-ish shade, kind of like a pearly white. Looks beautiful once applied. I think this palette is going to last me forever. You only need the tiniest amount of product to get good results.

From now on, I am definitely going to get more products from Revlon. I highly recommend the foundation. It has to be my second favorite foundation of all times. It retails for £12.99 and highlighting palette £9.99, which it could sound a little bit pricey for a drugstore product. But trust me it is totally worth it.

Let me know if you have your favourite Revlon product, I would love to try it.

  2. This is my favourite drug store foundation of all time, hands down! I'd say it's more full coverage though, or perhaps that's because I apply it so thickly? I'm just impressed that this baby covers all my flaws! Have you ever written a post on how you take your blog photographs? Id love to read one; your blog photos are stunning!xx

    1. I totally agree with you, Laura, this is probably the best drugstore foundation! I tend to apply small amount at first and then build it up if I need more coverage. And it does makes my skin look airbrushed!

Thank you for a compliment regarding my photography, it means a lot! And thanks for idea for a blog post, I might try to put something together xx
